About Attorney Elizabeth Gaba

Biography

Elizabeth Gaba was born in the City of Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada. She graduated high school with honors having just reached her 16th birthday.

She immediately entered McGill University, located in Montreal, Canada. McGill University is generally held to be equal in academic excellence to Harvard, Yale or Columbia Universities in the United States. Attorney Gaba received her first (of many) university diplomas and degrees from McGill University receiving a Bachelor of Arts, "with distinction" (for outstanding grades and superior academic performance). Further she also received a Diploma in Education (equal in the United States to a Master's Degree in Education) permitting her to teach in both public and private Canadian schools.

Attorney Gaba went on in her studies and earned a Master's of Library and Information Science Degree. Thereafter she continued her studies in the subject area of political philosophy. It was her intent to earn a doctorate for political science but her attention became diverted by the subject matter of jurisprudence.

Attorney Gaba attended Capital University Law School. While engaged in her studies at Capital University she was selected to be on Law Review. She was chosen from among a small and select group of students to be an intern at the Ohio Supreme Court. There she worked for Ohio Supreme Court Justice Herbert Brown. She was also selected to do a second internship at the Ohio Attorney General's Office. Attorney Gaba was on the Capital University's Law School Academic Dean's List for the final three years of her studies there. She graduated from Capital University Cum Laude receiving the degree of Juris Doctor.

After graduation, Attorney Gaba sat for and passed both the Ohio bar and the United States federal bar. This allows her not only to practice in all the courts of the State of Ohio but also in the Federal District Court (i.e. Southern District of Ohio and Northern District of Ohio) and Federal Bankruptcy Court. She is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Within twelve months of starting her own practice, she began limiting her law practice, allowing her to do greater numbers of more and more complex trial cases. The four types of cases to which Attorney Gaba now limits herself to are:

  1. Domestic Relations including Divorce, Custody and Juvenile Delinquency
  2. Felony and Misdemeanor Criminal Defense
  3. Federal Felony Criminal Defense
  4. Appellate Practice cases

Not only does Attorney Gaba practice law in the greater Columbus, Ohio area (i.e. Franklin County, Ohio), but she accepts cases around the entire State of Ohio. Attorney Gaba has in the past appeared in courts as far as Portmouth, Ohio, Marietta, Ohio, Belmont, Ohio, and Cleveland, Ohio. When her clients have requested, Attorney Gaba has had herself licensed (pro hac vice upon a case by case basis) in other states in addition to Ohio.

Attorney Gaba has been admitted to practice law (pro hac vice) in Arizona, Massachusetts and West Virginia) Because of her good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court and the high quality of law that she practices, it is believed that, upon an individual case basis, she could apply to be accepted (pro hac vice) to take a specific case in any state within the United States.
